Inklusiiv started as a campaign challenging Finnish tech companies to report their diversity data for the first time in 2019. Inklusiiv was founded by former Slush Chief Curator Katja Toropainen and supported by a vast group of individuals, several organizations in the startup community and by influential people in the Finnish business life.
Inklusiiv ry, an association with a mission to advance Diversity and Inclusion in working life, was officially founded after the campaign. Technology Industries of Finland became the first organization to fund Inklusiiv ry with 20,000€. Soon after launching the association, we learned that what organizations actually need is more concrete support to take actions on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). To address this need, Inklusiiv Oy was founded in February 2020 to offer tailored services such as trainings, consulting and workshops.
Our mission is to create and share knowledge about DEI and to support organizations to transform it into action. The association Inklusiiv ry focuses on creating and sharing knowledge on DEI to advance societal change with a focus on research and insights, while Inklusiiv Oy supports organizations in their strategic DEI work and also supports the work of the association.
Since the beginning, the vision has been to build a bigger movement through fostering a community. Inklusiiv wouldn’t exist without passionate and talented individuals who have contributed to build the community from the beginning as volunteers and supporters and the organizations who’ve joined the community to advance DEI.
